As a vastly experienced Civil Engineering and Building Contractor, the majority of our work at Austwel is undertaken in live plant environments for “Safety Critical” clients where strict Permit to Work procedures are in force. Our work is largely associated with Facilities Management owned and operated by clients in the oil, gas and energy sectors.

Supporting Our Community
Austwel is a committed member of the Pembrokeshire community, and we strive to support our local area with employment and investment wherever possible. All of our employees and specialist sub-contractors live in Pembrokeshire. Our reputation and history of good trading with the local supply chain means we benefit from a prompt response, especially when our clients have critical events or immediate demands to be met.

Trusted Partner
Working predominantly in the petrochemical sector, our track record with these major clients is excellent.

During the Murco Refinery tenure in Milford Haven, Austwel was a Term Services Contractor. We have been involved with the 3 major construction sites in Pembrokeshire, the LNG Terminal Construction sites, the new Cogen Plant at Waterston and at Pembroke Power Station Site. As well as a regular and key role in refinery shutdowns, including Milford and Pembroke Refinery Shutdowns in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

Benchmark Operations
Our head office in Thornton houses a stores and workshop for servicing our fleet of plant and vehicles.

We have site offices at three of the local COMAH sites and previously had one at the Pembroke Power Station site. Such sites require large-scale temporary facilities for the workforce and management, accommodating in some cases up to 2000 people. Austwel has had a significant role in planning, establishing and maintaining these facilities.

In 2004 we achieved ISO 9001 accreditation and are currently incorporating the principles of ISO 18000 into our existing management system after achieving this in 2014.

The management and site personnel have extensive experience in this specialist industry, which has been gained over many years in the oil and gas industry.
